How does the Flexi Club Point System work?

Flexi Club applies a unique resort grading system to the holiday accommodation available to its members. This grading system is based on points and accommodation is graded according to demand, standard, size and season. This determines the number of Points required when making use of the accommodation

As a Flexi Club member you are entitled to use the points you have acquired, to holiday at any of our accommodation or accommodation available via our numerous reciprocity agreements.

The points you have purchased are automatically issued to you every year. These points increase in line with inflation each year, ensuring that your asset appreciates and you continue to enjoy a lifetime of holidays. In addition, any unused points can be accumulated for the current year plus 24 months. Up to 25% of the following years points may be borrowed for the current year's holiday if required. Points may also be bequeathed.

What is Holiday Contribution?

Payable at the beginning of each year (calculated according to the number of points you own). This is used to pay resort levies and cover the estimated annual costs of the scheme accommodation.

This amount is due annually and based on an agreed percentage of the monetary value of your allocation of Points for the year. Currently The Holiday Contribution is calculated at 6.5% of the value of the points you own.Once received, this payment is transferred to your Holiday Savings accounts.

What are refurbishment fees and Club Subscriptions?

The Refurbishment Fee covers costs incurred to maintain the quality standards of the scheme accommodation owned by the Club. This amount is due annually in January and is based on the agreed percentage of your Points value. The current percentage is 0.5% plus a Base Levy of R295 per member. It was resolved at the AGM held on the 23 July 2009, and then confirmed at the 2010 AGM that this amount would be added to the Refurbishment Reserve as a base, before adding the Refurbishment Reserve fund.

Just like a sports club, Flexi Holiday Club requires an Annual Club Subscription to cover the annual operating expenses of running the Club e.g. accounting and administration costs, reservations, sending of statements, guest certificates and communications etc. This subscription is due upon joining the club and thereafter, during January each year. Each member pays the same amount.

How do my annual fees work?

Once a year they are raised in August / September and need to be paid by the end of January. Annual notifications are sent advising you of the relevant fees. They include your Subscriptions, Refurbishment Reserve and Holiday Contribution.

Your Subscriptions cover the Clubs administration and member support services. Funds allocated to the Refurbishment Reserve are used for upgrades or refurbishments as required by the resorts from time to time.

The balance of your funds are allocated to your Holiday Savings Account as your Holiday Contribution, which is used for your bookings (Accommodation Fee) and the payment of resort levies.

How do Guest Certificates work?

Upon confirmation of your reservation, a guest certificate will be issued and either emailed, faxed or posted to you. This document must be produced on arrival at your holiday destination in order for you to have accessto your accommodation. A guest certificate can be issued in the name of a family member or friend up to four times per year. Should you wish to take advantage of this benefit, please notify the club in writing with the relevant details of the guest who will be occupying the unit.

What is the history behind Flexi Club?

The concept of Flexi Club is unique to the leisure industry and was established in 1990 in South Africa, to service the discerning holiday needs of South African families. Over the years Flexi Club has grown dramatically and has expanded it's operations to other continents including the United Kingdom and Europe.

Flexi Club was incorporated into the Club Leisure Group, a large multi-national leisure company which manages and co-ordinates the activities of several other leisure and resort accommodation clubs around the world.

Today, over and above the holiday properties owned by Flexi Club, it's members have access via it's umbrella organisation the Club Leisure Group, to 3500 resorts worldwide.

One of the founder members of the group, South African born Anthony (Tony) Ridl, a chartered accountant who is regarded as a lateral thinking strategist, established his mark early on in the organisation. With over 20 years experience in the leisure industry, Tony is recognised for his accuracy in assessing market trends. Tony is instrumental in designing, developing and launching innovative products and services to maximise emerging market opportunities.

Pretoria born Stuart Lamont, a leading property developer from KwaZulu-Natal's South Coast in South Africa, joined the Group in 1994. Stuart focused on developing and implementing technologically advanced, measurable systems, procedures and quality of service, in all aspects of Flexi Club. Stuart's experience in property development and resort management, together with his keen attention to detail and exceptional negotiating skills, soon led the group to acquire and develop other exciting products. Including such products as Off Beat, Holiday Club, Club Trafalgar, Rainbow Holiday Club, Corporate Club, Premier Vacation Club, Holiday Access, Leisure Life Travel Club and numerous other key leisure properties. These rapidly grew in value to over R4,6 billion by the year 2009.
